Potential tool post grinder spindle. 09-27-2021, 09:58 AM. Considering this spindle for tool post grinder build. 4" wheels. Also considering it as a possibility for end mill sharpener as seen recently in the magazine. Looking for any insight into this.
Eight years ago, I got a 1944 vintage Logan Model 820 lathe. It came with much tooling, some of which I still haven't ID'ed. But one piece is an old Dumore toolpost grinder, in similar condition to what Tcweb has described above. Mine also needs a belt and power cord overhaul.

Grinding work and backup rolls for rolling mills is very similar to grinding with a tool post grinder but everything is much bigger and is more rigid. Balance and dressing of the grinding wheel is the most critical part of the operation. The rolls were supported between centers or resting on babbitted rests and driven by a dog type arrangement.

09-08-2021, 02:26 PM. Must be the Chinese have decided to make the Cincinnati MonOset. They call it a MonAset. I've used one a lot and they are a pretty awesome cutter grinding machine but cnc cutter grinders have pretty much made them obsolete for doing a lot of cutters.
