I've had a G1006 for about 1 1/2 years. I feel that it is a good. machine for the money. It has some minor shortcomings you may want to. be aware of: You'll have to tram the head to get it truly square to the table. When. you do this, the paint over bondo cracks at the column base.
If you can get a mill with a knee, most of the other mill/drill tips here will prove unnecessary. If you have to get a mill/drill, try to get the heavier model. It's often known as a #30, like my Grizzly G1006. It's probably best to avoid the power feed options unless you really need them- less to go wrong.

I picked up a Grizzly G1006 mill, and a Central Machinery TD – 1236B lathe. It took two days to get the machines (and all that came with them) out of the back of the truck and into my basement.
